The Western Muse, Californio Michael

In the beginning of Covid-19, 2020, I had the honor to collaborate as a muse to one of the youngest Master oil painters of our time Derek Harrison. I contributed as a model and consulted with historical context and wardrobe pieces. A year later, he provided the opportunity again but with another beautiful muse @kasey_dufour. It was fun to recreate a scenario that most likely happened on that piece of Chumash land in the Californio times onto the Yankee era in the Santa Barbara area when it comes to doing what rancheros and shepards gotta do, is to travel away and hope nothing happens while riding on a saddle on the rolling hills with just your horse, the cattle and the great sky.

Masterpieces take time and its amazing to see myself in these beautiful timeless pieces of art. Visit Derek Harrison’s website to see the paintings https://www.derekharrisonart.com/
